Two IT positions

Systems Analyst – Intermediate Associate

I. BASIC FUNCTION:
This position requires a proficient level of experienced analytical and/or programming capabilities, defining requirements, developing and/or maintaining computer applications/systems and providing service to meet client IS and business needs with deadlines. This position will work standard business hours Monday through Friday.
II. SUPERVISORY STRUCTURE:
Functions are carried out under the direct supervision of the Executive Director.
III. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide service to IS client community, patients, families and visitors, while protecting the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and electronic measures.
  • Evaluate and document client needs/business processes both operational and financial, including current process analysis and proposed revisions to optimize business processes.
  • Assist with the design and documentation of system functional requirements in formats to facilitate the development of deliverables such as Request for Proposals and/or Information, custom development efforts, project based planning documents such as scope documents and client services communication.
  • Work with ISD staff, clients and/or vendors to evaluate, develop, and implement solutions including both packaged system solutions and custom development applications options.
  • Assure quality of information through business case and application level testing; validate test results to initial business needs.
  • Design and document system level, IS operations level, and end user level procedures to support business applications.
  • Work with technical services and the integration team to design, test, and deploy appropriate hardware solutions, connectivity requirements and interface solutions.
  • Provide ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of production applications; including 24/7 on call coverage.
ISD Modality Responsibilities
  • Business Requirements and Process Analysis – Independently analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties; develops user manuals; makes suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements; partners with business process experts to learn and understand problems with software; conducts business requirements reviews and independently formulates logical statements of business requirements; participates in joint application sessions.
  • Operations Analysis – Independently evaluates and documents operational performance, diagnoses issues/incidents, completes service requests/problem resolution for complex business systems or processes; research and gather data/information, analyze information and propose alternative solutions.
  • Report writing: Mastery of the most common features of specialized analysis and reporting tools, such as FOCUS, report writers and query tools such as Crystal Report Writer, and advanced macros in Excel.
  • Systems Analysis: Conducts requirements reviews and independently formulates logical statements of business requirements and translates these to technical/functional specifications for use by programmers/coders; analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties for basic to moderately complex programs; creates prototype designs for basic and moderately complex programs; drafts detailed technical specifications from which programs will be written; develops user manuals; participates in joint application development sessions.
  • Systems Integration: Builds basic to moderately complex specifications and changes with users, systems professionals and external organizations; ability to define system interface capabilities or requirements with other plans, carriers, or vendors.
  • Project Management: Works with project manager to define tasks and create team work plans with moderate supervision; delegates work to others and monitors progress; identifies issues affecting work progress and recommends solutions; communicates schedule variances and potential scope changes in status reports; controls project costs, communicating any project related expenses and recommends ways to control costs.,

IV. PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE:
· Completes ongoing job training through courses, self study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities.
· Demonstrates thorough understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of one of the information technology professional disciplines (i.e.,. Applications, Business analysis, Customer Service, Data, networking, Operations, Security, Systems Engineering, etc) and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IS work within a particular MYCS department or function.
· Must meet IS Career Level Criteria for individual/Team Contributors outlined in the Universal Criteria leveling guide.
V. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
VI. PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in writing and modifying SAS and SQL.
· Experience with Psych Consult software and/or experience in a health care environment
· Programming experience using tools such as C++, .NET, Visual Studio, etc.
· Experience with Sharepoint and Active Directory
· Ability to work independently and within a team environment
· Strong communications and documentation skills

Systems Analyst Senior Associate

I. BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the general direction of the management team and senior staff, this position requires a proficient level of experienced analytical and/or programming capabilities, defining requirements, developing and/or maintaining computer applications/systems and providing services to meet client IS n and business needs within deadlines. May be responsible for the supervision/direction of 3-5 project team members. This position will work standard business hours Monday through Friday.

  • Highly motivated to apply process improvement (CMMI) to increase product and service quality to achieve business objectives.
  • Provide support as required by IS’s Disaster Recovery Plan.
ISD Modality Responsibilities
  • Business Requirements and Process Analysis – Identifies and specifies business requirements, resources and processes for a complex sub-system or major system modification. Uses complex analytical tools and methods to analyze and streamline business processes. Develops detailed selection evaluation criteria based on identified product requirements. Independently develops business requirements for complex tasks. Has expert knowledge of UPMC/MYCS systems and industry solutions. Coordinates impact to vendor and UPMC/MYCS workflow for a new product. Coordinates joint application development sessions.
  • Operations Analysis - Independently evaluates documents operational performance, diagnoses issues/incidents, completes service requests/problem resolution for complex common business systems or processes, including performance of integrated ERP systems or enterprise data structures/warehouse. Research & analyze complex operational business processes. Provide direction to other staff regarding technical solutions to meet business issues, as well s anticipate impact and propose solutions.
  • Report Writing – Advanced skills using specialized analysis and reporting tools, such as FOCUS, report writers and query tools such as Cognos and Crystal Report Writer an advanced macros in Excel.
  • Systems Analysis – Identifies and specifies technical/functional requirements. Develops detailed vendor selection evaluation criteria based on identified product requirements. Full accountability for developing requirements for complex to highly complex processes. Creates prototype designs for complex significant risk projects. Coordinates joint IS/Business partner application development sessions.
  • Systems Integration – Designs large scale, complex specifications and works with multiple users in modifying systems processing, data structures or designing new systems.
  • Project Management – Works with project manager to develop realistic work estimates, financial budgets and project schedules. Assists and mentors others involved with project planning and execution. Measures progress toward goals and revises work plan accordingly. Reviews project deliverables for accuracy and provides assistance and mentoring to others. Proactively apprises management of issues effecting project status and offer solutions to solve the issues.

· Coaches less experienced IS professionals.

V. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
· Three years experience writing, and modifying SQL queries
· Three years experience writing reports using Crystal Reports or SSRS in an SQL environment.
VI. PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience with Psych Consult software and/or experience in a health care environment
· Programming experience using tools such as C++, .NET, Visual Studio, etc.
· Experience with Sharepoint and Active Directory
