Home Care Opportunity with flexible schedules

We are receiving an increase in clients for Private Duty Home Care and I am reaching out to pass on our employment information. The position is very flexible and is great for those who may be in nursing school, looking to make some extra money, gain experience, but cannot commit to too much time. We have positions available all throughout Pittsburgh and surrounding areas, with as little as 1-2 hours each shift. We strive in making the position great for the client and the employee. It is also a great opportunity to transfer to one of our Nursing positions once graduated!

Alcoa, Materials Production Technician in New Kensington

 

 About the job

Does the prospect of playing a key part in innovative and breakthrough technology interest you? As a Materials Production Technician I with our Alcoa Technical Center located in New Kensington, PA, you will be an integral member of the production team responsible for equipment operation, maintenance and repair, and recording and documenting results and observations systematically and completely in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.

This role will be part of a pilot-scale production team focusing onmanufacturing and testing advanced proprietary materials for the development of innovative technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture powders and components and prepare and test samples using laboratory analytical equipment consisting of LECO chemical analysis, viscometers, pH measurements, density measurements, powder particle size and surface area analysis, sample polishing, microscopy.

  • Responsible for supporting operational tasks to meet project requirements including, but not limited to, material batching and mixing, powder processing (milling and spray drying), forming (die presses), furnace and kiln loading/unloading while maintaining process equipment.

  • Operation of overhead cranes, forklifts, and other mobile equipment as needed.

  • This position requires a diverse set of skills including strong mechanical aptitude to work collaboratively with a team for equipment disassembly, repair and trouble shooting.

  • High school diploma, GED, trade school degree in mechanical/electrical trades.

  • Preference for candidates with production experience in materials industries.

  • Ability to work in a team oriented and learning environment.

  • Willingness to learn.

  • Become knowledgeable about Alcoa EHS standards, protocols and tools to ensure that safety protocols are being followed accordingly.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Basic digital literacy: MS Outlook (email), MS Excel (data entry), MS Access or other database (data entry).

About the job

The role of the technician needs to have a diverse set of skills and will be part of a team that operates and maintains complex electrolytic cells to tight tolerances. In addition to working with cells, thetechnician will be responsible for recording and documenting results and observations systematically and completely in laboratory notebooks and computers. The technician will also be required to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other mobile equipment as needed. The technician will also operate other equipment that includes analytical equipment to verify material composition. The technician will also learn how to assist engineers and operations crews as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 1-year experience working with electrolytic cells or in an industrial R&D setting, preferred

  • Ability to work 24/7 rotating shifts as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA in physical sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, etc. )

  • Familiarity with construction and operation of electrolytic cells

  • Experience operating hand tools and machining equipment (band saw, EDM, drill press, etc.)

  • Ability to operate analytical equipment to monitor cell chemistry

  • Fork truck/overhead crane experience

  • Ability to communicate technical observations and results

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to work within a diverse team environment
