IT Intern/Co-Op with US Steel


IT  Computer Science/ Information Systems Co-op
The Student Employee IT position at United States Steel Corporation is for a college student interested in working and training as a traditional co-op or part time student employee during the school year and over the summer.

Training consists of "hands on" work experiences in areas such as Safety, Communication, Leadership, Teamwork, and Problem Solving. Specific process and equipment training will also be provided in On-the-Job type training.
The student may receive training in the following areas:
Support networks such as Ethernet and LAN and servers such as UNIX, Web and Windows.
Configure, troubleshoot, install, evaluate, and support software on PC's and end user support.
Administering security to networks, software, and systems within the U. S. Steel environment.
Provide daily detailed support of all IT networks and PC's affiliated with running a global business as well as identifying and implementing improvements to the current infrastructure.
Preparation, administration and tracking of Appropriation and Authorization Requests.
Writing or editing code.
Assisting in business processes.
Supporting functions within our Business Service Center.

Job Requirements:
• Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Technology or any other computer-related degree.
• Candidates must have completed or be working towards completion of their sophomore year and be in good academic standing.
• Candidates must be willing to work one of two schedules: two semesters at 16-20 hours per week followed by one summer of 40 hours per week or one semester of 20 hours per week plus one summer of 40 hours per week.
Candidates must maintain good academic standing while participating in the program.
Skills preferred are the knowledge of MSOffice products, operating systems, computer hardware, networking, databases (Oracle), web based applications, or any market driven comparable language or product
