Description:Carnegie Mellon University is hiring a Systems Analyst who will apply system analysis and design skills in support of the University's student information system. The Systems Analyst position requires a proficient level of experienced analytical and/or programming capabilities, development and/or maintenance of computer applications/systems. Specifically, the Systems Analyst will work with a diverse set of technologies to assess inter-related computer systems, to intuitively grasp stable system performance situations, to recognize subtle problems with system design or performance and to act appropriately to improve the condition, to prepare specifications, and work effectively in relationships with business partners, professional peers, and team members. NOTE: This position is fixed in duration and project-dependent, with an estimated duration of 3 years. Priority will be given to applications received by January 1. Selection is expected by February 1 with an anticipated appointment date of March 1.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience
Experience: Two or more years experience as a programmer or system analyst. Experience with a relational database, i.e. Oracle or Informix.
Skills:
Skill in applicable programming languages and competence in system analysis, software, computer equipment. Excellent written and oral communicate skills, ability to interact effective and courteously with a wide variety of people and in a team environment.
Physical Mobility:
Ability to sit for extended periods
Environmental Conditions:
Close contact with CRT for prolonged periods
Mental:
Ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with difficult situations or people; work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines.
Other:
Some evening and week-end hours may be required
Preferred:
Education: MS degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience
Experience: Experience with Ingres relational database. Experience in higher education computing environment.
