Internship Opportunity for Undergraduate Students in School of Business Administration – Marketing

 

Position: Marketing                                                                                                      
Commitment: 8 hours per week

 The marketing intern will work with local and international staff and volunteers to understand the mission, vision, activities, and values of the organization, particularly through our operations in Cameroon. To communicate this with a larger audience in the US, the intern will develop a marketing strategy which will incorporate an “interactive” donor relations model which will encourage funders to continue to invest in social development. Target groups include soccer teams, schools, individuals, and corporations. The ultimate objective is to create a steady stream of funding from the general public, which will complement funding from other grants and foundations. The intern will develop a marketing plan as a deliverable for the project.

 Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Complete analysis of sports for development NGOs and similar nonprofit organizations who benefit from donations from the general public
  • Understand/incorporate the added value of ‘cultural exchange’ into marketing
  • Incorporate strategies and tactics “on the fly” to begin to generate a buzz before a final marketing plan is complete
  • Understand fundraising is an integral component of internship
  • Develop a marketing plan to engage local communities in sustainable relationships with the organization for fundraising/ general awareness
About Cameroon Football Development Program:
     Founded in 2010, Cameroon Football Development Program (CFDP) employs a distinctive approach to health and social education in Cameroon, Africa by leveraging the nation’s love of soccer. We provide local leaders with the capacity to implement weekly sessions for youth ages 12 to 18 which combine sports (soccer) with discussions on life skills, interpersonal relationships, and health and sexual education. All of our programs are lead by local Cameroonians, Community Initiative Groups, and Non-Government Organizations. Additionally CFDP creates opportunities for bilateral cultural exchange between groups in North America and those in Cameroon which include pen pals, soccer team connections, and cultural immersion programs.
About Credit for Your Internship with Cameroon Football Development Program:

CFDP is a registered non-profit organization under IRS Code 501(c)3. CFDP will validate any hours worked on activities specific to CFDP. It is our intent to work with you before you begin any internship to create a working document – expectations (with deliverables) – to meet requirements of university programs or other community service initiatives and the needs of the organization. CFDP does not guarantee that “volunteer hours” will meet requirements of institutions. It is the sole responsibility of the individual student to consult with his/her advisor and representatives of CFDP to assure specific requirements are met based on the individual’s wants and needs.
About Travel Opportunities with Cameroon Football Development Program:

CFDP welcomes student interns to travel abroad and continue their service learning in Cameroon. CFDP does not guarantee funding for travel expenses for students. CFDP will assist student interns with in-country accommodations to assure a safe and productive educational experience. Typical travel dates range from January – March and May – July.
