MLP Steel is looking to hire a Purchasing Agent for source
selection and procurement functions directly associated with the Company’s
needs for direct and indirect materials as well as outsourced services. These products and services are to be secured
at cost, quality and delivery competitive levels consistent with MLP Steel
policy and performance standards. This
position is further responsible for the timely planning, schedule of receipt
and inventory control of products and services as assigned. This is an immediate need for a motivated
team player.
Successful candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in
Supply Chain Management with 5 years of prior experience managing inventory and
purchasing within an industrial environment.
Applicants must have a strong desire to learn and accept additional
responsibilities that may be offered.
* Initiate purchase orders and revisions for parts, services, tooling and raw materials;
* Arrange for submission and inspection of incoming products as required;
* Secure and analyze quotations and negotiate prices and terms with suppliers;
* Recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities;
* Study market prices and advise Senior Management of findings;
* Interview current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control and management, negotiate prices and delivery terms without guidance;
* Visit suppliers’ facilities to qualify them as new sources and assist in the resolution of quality and/or delivery problems;
* Manage inventory levels, schedule receipt of purchased items to meet production schedules;
* Review WIP sweeps from production floor;
* Interface with Production and Sales on material status in conjunction with production planning issues; and
* Maintain accurate inventory data within existing ERP system
