Internship Summary: Vibrant Pittsburgh seeks a student who is a highly motivated go-getter, diligent and dependable, organized and possessing multitasking skills to support Vibrant Pittsburgh in its efforts to build visibility as the Communications Intern.
Position Description: Vibrant Pittsburgh (VP) is a non-profit organization that works to further the economic competitiveness of the Pittsburgh Region by growing a talented and diverse workforce for the region. Vibrant Pittsburgh was established to leverage diversity and inclusion as critical components necessary to create and sustain an innovative economy; our current efforts – to attract, retain and elevate a diverse workforce – are timed to capitalize on the growing job opportunities in the region. As a convener, VP works to engage a cross-section of partners including business, nonprofit, and community leaders through a highly collaborative approach, to implement initiatives that foster a more diverse, inclusive and welcoming region.
As Communications Intern, you will become an integral part of VP’s communication and outreach efforts aimed at increasing the visibility of Vibrant Pittsburgh in the Pittsburgh Region which will support our mission and assist us in our partnership-building efforts. During the internship, you will be involved in a number of efforts including creating posts for our website and social media, assisting VP staff in creating the monthly Newsletter, creating press releases and media advisory documents as well as creating promotional materials such as brochures and flyers. You may also participate in developing and implementing a media outreach campaign, geared at raising awareness of Vibrant Pittsburgh among regional and national multi-cultural publications or be involved with Video Testimonial Project, which collects stories of diverse professionals who are living, working and thriving in the Pittsburgh Region to highlight what Pittsburgh has to offer as a place of opportunity. As a Communications Intern you will also have the opportunity to participate in our networking events and will attend staff and Board of Directors meetings on regular basis.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required: Inherent curiosity, a commitment to values of diversity and inclusion, a sense of humor, good work ethic, and strong investigative skills are required. Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment as well as strong written and oral communication skills, and agility with using the Internet and standard MS Office software are required. Broad knowledge of workforce and community economic development trends and issues in Southwest Pennsylvania is desirable.

Research Intern
