Administrator Trainee
SALARY:
HOURLY - $20.5078 - $23.0713
MONTHLY - $3,554.70 - $3,999.04
ANNUAL - $42,656.36 - $47,988.45If you successfully complete the one (1) year training period, you will be promoted without further examination to Public Health Nutrition Administrator I, in accordance with merit system rules and regulations.
MIMIMUM REQUIREMENTS
One (1) year of experience as a Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor
OR
A master’s degree in nutrition or a field related from an accredited college or university by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or Academy of Nutrition or Dietetics Registration and two (2) years of experience as a public health nutritionist in a health agency or as a clinical, teaching or administrative dietitian;
OR
A bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in public health nutrition, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or nutritional sciences, including coursework in basic nutrition, diet therapy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry and biochemistry and three (3) years of experience as a nutritionist in a health agency or as a clinical, teaching or administrative dietitian;
OR
Any acceptable equivalent combination of nutrition experience and training acceptable to the Allegheny County Health Department.
OR

NATURE OF WORK
This is a training level in administrative, management and professional work in the field of public health. An employee in this class participates in a comprehensive program of formal, informal and on-the-job training designed to develop professional competency and to provide experience in the practical application of the principles of public health nutrition. Work includes performing routine administrative functions in the public health nutrition programs including working with contracted staff, program evaluation, public health education, prevention, outreach and operations, participating in the formulation of operating policies, procedures and goals; recommending changes as appropriate; disseminating program information, gathering data and assisting in the preparation of reports. Employee will learn skills and techniques in administering and providing consultation for public health nutrition programs and managing staff. This employee will supervise professional public health nutritionists, paraprofessionals and clerical staff. Important aspects of the work are development of staff, management of work assignments, and the maintenance of standards of quality and adherence to policies and procedures. Employees are expected to demonstrate leadership qualities and to exercise initiative and judgment in achieving program goals. Work is performed under the close supervision of a higher level administrator who evaluates the employee’s training progress and work performance for adherence to agency policy and procedures and for accomplishment of objectives.
