Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) and Therapeutic Specialist

Position Description


Currently, Wesley Spectrum is seeking highly motivated Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) and Therapeutic
Specialist applicants to work in our Behavioral Health Rehabilitative Services Program and/or Wonder
Kids Program with children and adolescents with an autism spectrum diagnosis. We are seeking
candidates with primarily evening availability. Weekend hours are also available.

TSS staff serve the entire Pittsburgh Region, including Allegheny, Butler, Westmoreland, and Washington
counties. We currently have a need for staff to serve clients in the North Hills, Cranberry Township,
Gibsonia, Butler, Airport/Robinson, Sewickley, South Hills, Canonsburg, Washington, Wilkinsburg,
Cheswick, Fox Chapel, Monroeville areas.  The office locations for attending supervision, training, and
turning in required paperwork are in Gibsonia, Penn Hills, and Canonsburg.

Many children who live in our communities are suffering from developmental, educational and behavioral
health issues. These challenges affect their ability to learn, to adjust, to grow and to become independent.
Therapeutic Staff Supports provide quality therapeutic mental health services to children with an autism
spectrum diagnosis primarily in the homes of families and also in community settings and through
schools. Their primary responsibility is to implement behavioral interventions as per the treatment plan
and meet with the treatment team in order to collaborate and share client information.

Therapeutic Specialists work in our site-based Wonder Kids Program located in Gibsonia, Canonsburg,
and Penn Hills. Therapeutic Specialists work as part of a team and provide quality therapeutic mental
health services for children in a site based group setting. The TS follows an individualized treatment plan
to ensure individualized behavioral health services and also follows a group activity schedule to ensure
an appropriate structure to the daily activities.

Hiring Requirements

Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS) and Therapeutic Specialist

Education:

a. Persons with a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, education,
criminal justice, or similar human service field, with no previous work experience or
b. Persons with a Bachelor’s Degree in any other field, with the equivalent of at least one year of
full-time paid work experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents or
c. Licensed registered nurses, with the equivalent of at least one year of full-time paid work
experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents or
d. Persons with an Associate’s Degree, or sixty credits toward a Bachelor’s Degree, with the
equivalent of at least three years of full-time paid work experience in a job that involved direct
contact with children or adolescents or
e. Licensed practical nurses, with the equivalent of at least three years of full-time paid work
experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents.
