Review claims for Social Security and SSI disability and determine eligibility for benefits. Criteria include review of medical documentation received, vocational assessment, and other considerations in accordance with federal regulations and standards.
Essential Traits/Skills:
Practicing adjudicators advise that the ability to organize a workload is extremely important. In order to function well in this position, you must have solid analytical skills, be able to pay attention to detail and have a positive attitude.
Requirements:
To apply for this position you must be a resident of Pennsylvania and be of good moral character. You must take a civil service test for this position and have earned a bachelor's degree. You may take the test if you have completed 90 or more credit hours and expect to receive a bachelor's degree within the next seven months, however, you must provide proof of your degree before you start work.
How to Apply:
Contact the Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission for testing locations, a current list of examinations and to apply for testing. After completion of the test, you will receive your score and placed on the civil service eligibility list for this job. As vacancies occur, civil service lists are used to contact candidates for an interview.
Walk-in testing is an option on most testing days on a first-come, first served basis. Since these events are unpredictable, applicants can call the Harrisburg State Civil Service Commission at 717-783-3058.
