Steel is looking to hire a Buyer for source selection and procurement functions
directly associated with the Company’s needs for direct materials and
outsourced services. This is an
immediate need for a motivated team player.
Applicants
must have a strong desire to learn and accept additional responsibilities that
may be offered. Candidates MUST have
prior experience managing inventory and purchasing in an industrial
environment. Experience in the metals
industry is a must.
Responsibilities
include, but are not limited to:
- Initiate purchase orders and amendments for materials through close coordination with Sales and Operations to assure timely execution of product and outsourcing services;
- Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities;
- Study market prices and trends;
- Coordinate as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes between company activities and suppliers;
- Visit suppliers’ facilities to qualify them as new sources and assist in the resolution of production, quality, and/or delivery problems;
- Prepare monthly reports for cycle counts; and
