Job Description

JOB TITLE: Technical Assistant DATE: July 19, 2012

REPORTS TO: Senior Engineer (functional report) HOURS: 40 hr / week; 8:00a.m.
Project Manager (project report) to 5:00p.m. (1 hr. lunch)

FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Salary

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To provide technical support to Engineering / Design though the coordination, composition, and editing of technical writing for bid proposals, customer design review packages, and technical manuals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Coordinates with Engineering and Design teams on bid proposals.
• Coordination, composition, and editing, of technical documentation associated with Project Design Reviews, Car History Book, and other technical deliverables.
• Assists in organization and preparation of training materials and handouts.
• Works together with Quality Control to ensure the accuracy and adequacy of publications.
• Becomes acquainted with Microsoft Project to maintain and update project schedules.
• Potential to become acquainted with coordinating and managing commercial aspects of project.
• Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Project, Adobe Acrobat and have working knowledge of AutoCAD; capable of reading mechanical prints, strong writing and proofreading abilities; effective interpersonal and communication skills; high qualitative and organizational standards; detail oriented. Must be mentally adaptable, flexible and professional in dealing with a variety of people. Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action. Must handle novel and diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must have a long attention span in order to complete assignments.

EDUCATION: Associates Degree in Technical or Engineering Field.

EXPERIENCE: Two years technical experience in engineering / design / manufacturing environment beneficial.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and mouse, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to read numbers, reports, blueprints, and computer terminals. Requires hearing within normal range for telephone use. Requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional high stress work that requires dealing with deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS: May be required to work some overtime/weekends. Works in
typical office setting 90% of the time and in the shop 10% of
the time.
