Two 2013 Summer Internship
Opportunities Available!
Background
Innovation Works, Inc. (IW), a Pittsburgh, PA venture
development organization, provides investment, business assistance and hands-on
support to high-growth, early-stage technology companies in southwestern
Pennsylvania.
IW seeks two interns to support key investment, internal
business processes and human resources initiatives as well as supporting the
Executives in Residence on staff with investment, market and competitive analysis.
By performing the array of tasks listed below, the interns
will be significantly contributing to IWs’ business objectives. These tasks are all integral to IW’s
portfolio and funnel companies’ moving forward towards successful
commercialization, scaling of operations or attracting follow-on investment.
The internship will also be a great opportunity to gain exposure to the venture
capital industry.
Specific Objectives
and Deliverables
Entrepreneurial Executives Team
- Assist team in market
positioning and sales strategy related to identified markets
- Create a database of
potential market opportunities for specific technologies
- Develop market
positioning and sales strategies related to identified markets
Analyze the time
to achieve significant milestones in the history of life science investments
made over the last 5-10
CIO and Investment Team
a.
Assist the Investment Team in the implementation of
SalesForce for reporting/tracking future and current investment activity and
for monitoring existing investments.
b.
Work with the Investment Team to update and maintain
portfolio company activity specifically with regards to changes in
capitalization/cap structure.
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate should be familiar with performing
market and competitive analysis as well as have the understanding of the
components of a business plan.
Experience with a CRM system such as SalesForce is a major plus. The candidate should also have strong
initiative and be very adaptable. Excellent
written and verbal communication skills, and a strong aptitude with PowerPoint
and Excel. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. Pursuing Master’s
degree preferred. Minimum GPA: 3.0.
Compensation
The compensation for this 12-week internship will be a
maximum of $4,250 for each intern.
