The SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery) Project Coordinator at Mental Health America Allegheny County (MHAAC) will support behavioral health provider agencies throughout Allegheny County by providing:
1) Application assistance using the SOAR model to help individuals who have a mental health disability and are homeless OR at-risk of homelessness obtain SSI/SSDI benefits.
2) Training and ongoing technical assistance related to the SSI/SSDI application process and the variety of public benefits and work incentive programs available to mental health consumers.
3) Oversight and technical assistance for the County’s SOAR project, including supporting SOAR-trained staff, managing the application submission process and serving as the liaison between providers and local and state agencies.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in human services related field (including Sociology, Social Sciences, Social Work or Psychology, Education) or Public Administration, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
· Working knowledge of behavioral health service models, including the recovery model
· Familiarity with the Social Security Administration, the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, and processes for applying for federal, state and local benefits, entitlement programs and work incentive initiatives;
· A minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional work environment with proven ability to communicate both verbally and in writing; the ability to collaborate successfully with others; demonstrated time-management and organizational skills; comfort with public speaking and with presenting trainings to diverse audiences; and the ability to meet deadlines and focus on results;
· Advanced understanding and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
· Act 33/34 clearances |
