CA will be hiring a number of college graduates across multiple locations as Mainframe Associate Software Engineers in 2013. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic candidates who have a passion for learning and broadening their knowledge in the area of software development within a world class software development organization.

As a Mainframe Associate Software Engineer, you will become a member of our Mainframe Technology and Development Group and work alongside senior software engineers specializing in the IBM mainframe technology. In this role, you will not only build skills and gain increasing responsibility, you will also be making an impact by providing analysis related to software design and development, evaluating software performance, and making your recommendations to the software designer community.

Candidate requirements include:

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
• Necessary skills to grasp operating system concepts
• Experience with a variety of programming languages, such as C, C++, Java, assembler, and REXX

Weight will be given to candidates who have successfully completed several Computer Science / Engineering courses in the following areas:

-Computer Organization and Design
-Computer Architecture
-Systems Programming
-Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science Database
Management Systems Programming Language Concepts Data Structures
-Algorithms Compiler Construction Operating Systems Design
-Construction Software Design Methods Microprocessors and Embedded Systems

The CA Mainframe Associate Engineer position includes a six-week training program at one of CA’s mainframe data centers during the summer of 2013. This program provides an introduction to Agile Programming methodologies and IBM’s z/OS operating system, Unix System Services, programming in assembly language, Metal C and REXX, CICS transaction server, DB2 database, and VSAM file structure. Participants in this program will be housed in suites in an extended-stay hotel during training
