Position: Communications Intern

Summary
As the leader of Pittsburgh/Allegheny
County's public workforce system, Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board
(3RWIB) works to ensure that the current and future needs of businesses and job
seekers are met. With tens of thousands of jobs available in the Pittsburgh
region, 3RWIB bridges the gap between people looking for work and companies in
need of talent.
The Communications Intern will
be instrumental in assisting 3RWIB emerge as the thought-leader on local labor
market and workforce issues. This intern also will have the opportunity to
learn about the public workforce system, the Workforce Investment Act and its
administration at the ground level, and the operations of a public-private
organization.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities

Assisting the
organization to emerge as the premiere thought leader on workforce issues for
Pittsburgh and Allegheny by:
o Creating and
updating compelling content for trwib.org and other outlets
o Establishing
and/or managing social media presence on new and existing platforms
o Engaging in
creative storytelling through infographics or other graphic design and
multimedia strategies
o Assisting in
outreach to traditional mediums
o Assisting in the design and preparation of compelling
presentations and templates for monthly, bi-monthly and weekly communiques

Assisting the
organization to communicate key information to Board of Directors by providing
accurate and timely meeting minutes

Collaborate
with 3RWIB staff to meet organizational goals.

All other
duties as assigned.

writing skills

present complex information to varied stakeholders in a compelling and visually
appealing way

to detail and ability to multi-task

Ability to
develop relationships and collaborate with diverse groups

Strong computer
skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator (or other design software)
and Content Management Systems
Education/Experience
Graduate or undergraduate
communications/English majors considered; communications experience in a
corporate setting preferred.
Time
This internship will run 15-20
hours/week from August to December and will take place at 3RWIB during normal
business hours.
Compensation
Compensation is available for
this internship.
