The Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare is currently recruiting 
to fill 42 openings at their Juvenile Justice Facilities in 
Perry, Montour, and Franklin Counties. 
Nature of Work:  
You will actively engage court adjudicated youth on a day-to-day basis to address personal problems and 
scheduled activities and to provide positive reinforcement and insight into responsible behavior and attitudes. Work includes observing 
scheduled activities; assisting professional ss staffin attaining    in 
program goals; and providing physical care, custody, al hygiene, 
eating, recreating, work assignments, skill-building, and participating in treatment groups and other programmed activities. Youth 
Development Aides Maintain order by intervening with disruptive, emotionally disturbed and suicidal youth by being alert, responsive to 
emergencies and utilizing appropriate restraint techniques to prevent escapes, control aggressiveness and maintain a safe and secure 
environment. 
Starting Salary as of July 1, 2014:  
$33,424 annually and don’t forget a 
$16.02 is increased to $17.02 for employees who work 2nd or 3rd shift! These positions also come with the potential of an early 
retirement at age 55!

Necessary Special Requirement:  
Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application. 
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:  
Successful completion of the Youth Development Aide Trainee program; OR one 
year of experience in the care, custody, activities or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a behavioral, educational or 
community-based capacity; OR completion of 30 college credits, which included 12 credits in behavioral sciences or criminal justice.
