Software Tester / Business Systems Analyst

Position: Software Tester / Business Systems Analyst I (QA / Jr experience)
Status: Full Time, Entry Level
Location: RJLG-Waynesburg, PA or Monroeville, PA
Job Summary:
  • This QA position will participate in software testing of mission-critical, enterprise applications.  The position will be working with small to mid-sized teams in a fast paced environment and will have the opportunity to work in a QA and business systems analyst role on a variety of information technology projects.  A qualified candidate would have a minimum of a college degree and some level of software testing experience in a technical field with information technology.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Execute software testing (integrated, system, regression, performance) using automated and manual testing techniques.
  • Drive all product software testing (unit, integration, system, regression, performance) using automated and manual testing techniques.
  • Adopt and incorporate automated functional and performance testing tools.
  • Develop product testing related deliverables using project specific templates and methodologies such as Agile and the Rational Unified Process (RUP).
  • Collaborate with development functional groups on technology changes necessary to enhance automation tool performance and robustness.
  • Develop and execute test cases and scenarios for the product.
  • Write automated testing scripts.
  • Log, analyze and report test results.
  • Perform source level debugging.
  • Work with QA engineers, managers, software engineers, technical writers, and requirements team members to ensure quality and the successful rollout of new applications or features.
  • Identify, define and satisfy all product testing deliverables and milestones.
  • Define and evolve quality assurance testing standards, guidelines, procedures, processes, and metrics.
  • Assist in managing product testing scope and prioritize product testing goals and objectives.
  • Interface with client stakeholders and domain experts as related to the testing process.
  • Create and maintain product test plans.
  • Monitor and report product test status.
  • Schedule and work with team to support the product testing lifecycle.
  • Identify and track product risks, defects and issues.
  • Handle exceptions and problems (product, tools and team oriented as related to testing).
  • Mentor and motivate test team.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or Associates degree in Computer Science or related field with 2+ years experience
  • BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Working experience or knowledge with automated testing tools, techniques and capabilities.
  • Working experience or knowledge with automated testing skill set with software products including web and client based applications (transactional and analytical applications).
  • Working experience or knowledge with Object Oriented Analysis & Design.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot challenging defects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to quickly, effectively, and persuasively communicate inputs and ideas within collaborative sessions, presentations and in written form to various audiences with wide ranges of business and technical knowledge and ability.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Scripting languages and SQL.
  • Defect management software.
 
Desired Skills:
  • HP Quality Test Center, HP Quick Test or Mercury Interactive automated testing tools.
  • Experience with a bug tracking and issue tracking tool.
  • Experience with Hardware and Network testing a plus.
  • Experience with basic hardware, software and programming concepts such as client-server and web computing, Java, XML, relational databases, middleware and reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.
  • UML (Business Process, Business and System Use Case, Business Entity diagrams).
  • Knowledge of the Agile and Rational Unified Process (RUP).
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.
  • XML, XSLT, Web Services, Hibernate, Spring, Ant, PHP, AJAX, HTML
  • Code Profiling
  • SQL Profiling
