GENERAL ASSIGNMENT REPORTER (Part-Time) | |
WTAE-TV, the Hearst station in Pittsburgh is searching for an experienced and creative part-time general assignment reporter. Are you the smartest reporter in your shop? Do you perform the most compelling live shots in town? Do you thrive on enterprise and digital platform reporting? If the answer is "yes" to all of the above, we want to see the proof on tape or DVD. Job Responsibilities: • Contributing hard news enterprise story ideas each and every day. • Building a base of local news sources in order to generate stories. • Gathering and delivering vo's, vo/sots, packages and ENG/SNG live shots for daily newscasts, WTAE.com and other digital platforms. • Participating in station-sponsored events both at the station and out in the community. • Pitching creative and compelling Sweeps style special reports. • Using the TV newsroom computer system to write and type scripts. • Shooting look-lives and doing live shots for other Hearst and ABC affiliates. • Calling into newscasts with live phone interviews from breaking news scenes. | |

Experience Requirements: • At least two years' experience reporting in a medium to large market preferred. | |
Qualifications Requirements:
• Work varied shifts – early mornings, holidays and weekends included. • Drive station vehicles (Valid Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Check required). • Deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production. • Apply management feedback and critiques in order to improve on-air performance. Education: • Bachelor's Degree preferred. | |
