City of Pittsburgh Parks & Recreation Department Big League program
is seeking interested and qualified individuals for summer employment.
These positions are to assist and monitor the youth baseball and
softball program coordinated by the City of Pittsburgh. Individuals much
reside in the City of Pittsburgh, have a valid driver’s license, and
have basic knowledge of baseball and softball.

Job Description
Duties:
Recreation
Assistant will assists in planning, implementation and evaluation of the entire
CItiparks Pittsburgh BIG League Sports Program.
The Recreation Assistant will monitor all Pony, Colt, Super Colt, Girl’s
Slo-Pitch and Little League Tournament games and will arrive one hour prior to
game time, to set up fields into proper playing dimensions. Depending on
weather conditions, duties may include restoring fields to safe playing
conditions. The Recreation Assistant
will be the official rules interpreter and official game scorekeeper. Additional game responsibilities include
monitoring the behavior of the spectators, coaches and players to ensure
everybody’s safety as well as handling any conflicts or protests that may arise.
Other duties include scheduling, mailings, general office duties, participating
in weekly strategy planning meetings and community group meetings, inventory of
equipment, general cleaning and maintenance of the BIG League office.
