Job Description:
The Transition Specialist will provide structured
intervention techniques and support to youth in Goodwill job skills training
programs and/or competitive placements to meet site needs and/or prescribed
production expectations. The Specialist
will develop pre-employment skills and provide job specific training, support,
information and supervision to high school students with disabilities/barriers
to employment throughout businesses and organizations in Allegheny County. The
Specialist will provide training on proper work techniques and socialization
skills through the completion of job and task analysis as well as implementing
necessary educational, behavioral, and/or developmental supports, including any
identified assistive technology. The
Transition Specialist will utilize positive motivational strategies and
techniques that help client attain identified employment goals.
Requirements:
- Education: 2 or more years’ experience successfully working with individuals with disabilities/barriers to employment. Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, disability laws including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Individuals with Disabilities and Education Act (IDEA). Will also consider a Bachelors Degree and 0-1 years’ experience as stated above.
