The Pennsylvania State Archives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania is
seeking a qualified summer intern to perform detailed processing of the Membership
Records of the Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania. The project involves
arranging and describing new records accretions, placing the materials in
acid-free folders and cartons, and adding new entries to an automated
spreadsheet listing of the contents of each folder, and other related tasks. The
intern will also research and contact past and present members of the
organization to gather biographical content and newspaper obituaries for
expanding member files.
Applicants should ideally be enrolled in an accredited M.A. History, American Studies, M.L.S. Library Science or Archival Science program at the graduate level, have an interest in women’s history, be familiar with archival processing, pay attention to detail, not be allergic to dust and mold, be able to lift boxes up to 30 lbs., and climb a ladder. The internship includes a $1,250 stipend funded by the Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania for a full-time four-week period. Housing is not provided.
