Radiology Assistant - Highmark

Under direct physician supervision, provide patient care and perform procedures. Determine normal from abnormal imaging examinations and assess the radiographic findings to determine if immediate radiologist interpretation is needed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs procedures including, but not limited to the following: fluroscopic procedures (static and dynamic), ultrasound, computed tomography or fluroscopic guided biopsies, ultrasound, computed tomography or fluroscopic drainages and drainage catheter placements, vascular access procedures arteriograms, venograms, venous access procedures, declots, permacath placements, central venous line placement, IVC filter placement, fistulagrams, gastrotomies and spinal procedures.
  • Administer and/or order contrast media under supervision of a physician.
  • Completes patient rounds, updates medical records with clinical progress. Completes pre-procedure clinical evaluations including brief history and physical examinations.
  • Writes and dictates procedure summaries and radiology reports.
  • Provides and reviews post-procedure discharge instructions with appropriate nursing staff, patient and family members.
  • Correspond with physicians and medical practitioners regarding their patients for future procedures and postoperative.
