Description:
This position is housed in IT Services for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Primary duties include maintenance, deployment, and customer support of prevailing commercial desktop operating systems with an emphasis on Microsoft, Apple, and mainstream distributions of Linux. Responsibilities include providing technical support to IT Services staff and affiliated customer groups, some of whom are in other departments or organizational units in the College of Engineering (CIT). This position also includes mid-level systems administration responsibilities and requires commensurate support outside of normal business hours. Experience with virtualized Windows servers under VMware and Microsoft Exchange a plus. Must be able to communicate in writing and orally with precision and clarity, and adjust for intended audience’s varying levels of understanding and background. Must work in parallel with multiple projects, meet strict deadlines, and coordinate with all levels of ITS staff.
