About the Organization:
All members of AFN staff are family members—parents
or primary caregivers who are raising or have raised a child with
mental health or emotional needs. As parents, AFN staff members
understand what other families are going through. They offer empathy and
compassion as they help families advocate for their children and bring
about change in the broader human services systems.
AFN family members bring a wealth of knowledge to the families who are engaged in AFN programs and activities. AFN staff draw on their own experiences with human services systems such as education, Children, Youth and Families (CYF), Behavioral Health (mental health, drugs and alcohol) and the Juvenile Justice systems in order to support families who negotiate with these systems.

Comment
from our referring source for this posting, Career Services at Greater
Allegheny: “This non-profit organization is looking for an IT intern,
but the opportunity is unpaid. It sounds like a wonderful place – they
are very casual (not a typical corporate environment) – even bringing
pets to work. Seems like a very supportive place – they are willing to
train and help the student to tailor the internship so that s/he can
learn as much as they would like. Details are included below. They are
located just off the Bloomfield Bridge.”
