Academic Support Specialist
Organize, inventory, and maintain engineering lab spaces. Lab preparations - order lab supplies/parts, set up lab equipment, provide demonstration of lab equipment as needed, and tear down and clean up. Lab Equipment - maintain, troubleshoot and repair non-computer related equipment in the Engineering laboratories. Hardware Support - evaluate, maintain, troubleshoot, and support the specialized hardware (PLC, CNC, Robots, etc.) that interface with engineering computers. Software Support - evaluate and troubleshoot specialized engineering software that is utilized in engineering labs and faculty computers. Assist IT staff in building engineering software images and testing. Media Services - schedule, coordinate, and provide technical assistance for media service requests. Prioritize requests as needed. Ensure proper maintenance, repair, training, operation, security, inventory, and storage. Identify equipment needs and make purchase recommendations. IT Support - assist with general IT support as needed to support a service desk model. Supervision - provide direction and supervision to student workers that help support Media Services and Engineering. Manage scheduling of student workers and their associated payroll. Typically requires an Associate's degree or equivalent plus four years of work related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent communication and customer service skills are necessary. This is a fixed-term appointment funded through July 30, 2013 with excellent possibility of re-funding.
