Veteran Fire Corps Project Leader

The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America’s #1 conservation service organization seeks qualified applicants to lead, educate, and inspire Corps Members for the Veteran Fire Corps programs.
The Project Leader will supervise teams of five Veteran members working in partnership with the US Forest Service to complete fire/fuels management work.  Veterans Fire Corps provides recent-era Veterans with the training, credentials and experience they need to competitively pursue wildland fire and/or forestry careers. Projects may include but are not limited to: hazardous fuels reduction, hand-piling of slash, constructing fire line in pre-fire preparation of prescribed burn units, collecting fuel inventory data, FIREWISE educational outreach, trail maintenance, timber marking, and fence construction.  Project work and schedules vary depending on region and season.   
Past locations have included:
·         Black Hills National Forest, SD
·         Shoshone National Forest, WY
·         Prescott National Forest, AZ
·         Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, CO/WY
·         Prescott National Forest, AZ
·         Florida Fish and Wildlife, FL
Program Dates: April through August 2016.  Mandatory Crew Leader training starts April 1, 2016
Primary Responsibilities:
Crew Manager
  • Lead and manage work outcomes and crew dynamics
  • Facilitate team operations: food planning/purchasing, tools & equipment, and vehicles
  • Actively handle any behavioral and crew dynamics issues as they arise, in coordination with Program Staff
  • Promote leadership development within the team and evaluate success & potential
  • Maintain professional and consistent communication with Program Staff
Technical Advisor
  • Manage tools and equipment assigned to the team, including maintenance throughout the season
  • Assist in training corps members to complete quality work
Partnership Representative
  • Assist Program Staff in Corps Member Training in late May
  • Collaborate with agency partners to oversee project quality and quantity
  • Work with Program Staff and agency partners on program logistics
  • Ensure successful and timely completion of work project
Administrative
  • Complete required program reporting and documentation
  • Assist Program Staff in budget management and reconciliation
  • Ensure compliance with all SCA Risk Management policies and procedures
  • Represent SCA in a positive and professional manner
Qualifications:
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must have ability to legally work in the US
  • Must be able to attend mandatory Crew Leader training: April 1-10, 2016
  • Wilderness First Aid certification & CPR required by the start of training
  • Minimum 2 years prior experience  supervising groups in an outdoor setting
  • Previous fire line, conservation,  chainsaw, or veterans programming experience
  • Experience with conservation work skills or related skills, preferred  i.e. trail maintenance, trail construction, chainsaw, carpentry, landscaping, and gardening
  • Ability to pass the Wildland Firefighters’ arduous pack test
  • Valid driver’s license and MVR that meets SCA standards required
  • Ability to meet SCA’s criminal background check standards
  • Preferred skill set: Experience leading veterans or fire crews, S212 federal chainsaw certification, S130/S190 federal fire certifications, forestry, geography, GIS, range management, outdoor education and/or related subjects; plant identification; map & compass skills; camping skills; enthusiasm for the outdoors; and a sense of adventure.
Compensation:  $545 weekly salary depending on experience with some seasonal benefits.  Travel to/from site, housing included. Chainsaw and Red Card Certification/training available

Sonic Skating Carhop

SONIC DRIVE-IN JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION:                                        SKATING CARHOP
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:               MANAGER ON DUTY   
STATUS:                                           HOURLY, NON-EXEMPT

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:  Serves and delivers quality food in a clean, safe, and efficient manner while roller skating so that guests will have an enjoyable experience at the Sonic Drive-In. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 
1. Ensures that temperature, packaging, appearance, presentation, and service of all menu items meet operational standards.
2. Carries and balances a tray weighing up to 25 pounds while roller skating.
3. Greets all guests in a polite and friendly manner with a smile.
4. Delivers and serves quality food and beverages to guests at each delivery point (cars parked in stalls and patio) in a timely manner while roller skating.
5. Displays the importance of placing guests’ needs first on a consistent basis.
6. Responds to guests requests in a respectful manner. Promptly reports complaints to a member of the drive-in management team.
7. Makes accurate change quickly and efficiently.
8. Clears trays and trash from guests’ cars, patio, Drive-Thru parking lot and property while roller skating.
9. Successful completion of assigned Sonic Skating Training Program.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
·   Wears required uniform and appropriate personal protective equipment as outlined in the Sonic Drive-In operations manual.
·   Performs other job related duties as assigned or required including, but not limited to, preparing drinks, ice cream menu items or taking guests orders when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:  Prepares quality food in a clean, safe, and efficient manner so that guests will have an enjoyable experience at the Sonic Drive-In.

1.      Performs all duties in the Basic Stations (Fountain & Frozen, Dresser, Front Swamp, Back Swamp, Grill,  Switchboard, Expeditor, Food Prep, and if applicable, Drive-Thru) as needed and depending on store volume, during a shift to ensure that preparation (portion control), temperature, packaging, appearance, presentation, taste and service of all menu items meet operational standards.
2.      Operates switchboard and records customer order, repeats order in a clear and understandable manner.
3.      Operates Drive-Thru window and sales register and makes accurate change quickly and efficiently. 
4.      Prepares fountain drinks and ice cream items.
5.      Prepares food by cutting and chopping food items and cooking on grill or in fryers.
6.      Prepares food orders efficiently within 2-3 minute time frame.  
7.      Packages all menu items into bags or trays and places drink orders into drink carriers.
8.      Serves food to customers in an efficient manner in the Drive-Thru and as necessary when working in other          Basic Stations.
9.      Moves food product weighing up to 50 lbs into freezer and shelves stacked from floor to ceiling.
10.     Routinely disposes of trash by transporting bags outside and into dumpsters.
11.     Cleans all areas of drive-in, including mopping, sweeping, washing dishes, wiping counter-tops and emptying          used grease.
12.     Performs frequent washing and sanitizing of: food areas, food preparation tools, and hands.

     GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:  Assists in managing the operations of a Sonic Drive-In and assumes responsibility for drive-in operations in the absence of other management.  Trains and supports the drive-in employees in order to provide quality food in a clean, safe and efficient manner so that guests will have an enjoyable experience at the Sonic Drive-In.

     ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 
1.     Manages, trains, monitors and coaches crew members, carhops and skating carhops.
2.     Directs and assigns drive-in employees to perform all duties in the Basic Stations (Fountain & Frozen, Dresser, Front Swamp, Back Swamp, Grill, Switchboard, Expeditor, Food Prep, Carhop, Skating Carhop and if applicable Drive-Thru) as needed and depending on store volume, during a shift to ensure the preparation (portion control), temperature, packaging, appearance, presentation, taste and service of all menu items meet operational standards.

4.     Performs opening and/or closing duties in compliance with Sonic Drive-In policies and procedures.
5.     Monitors and makes appropriate adjustments to staffing levels during assigned shift.
6.     Monitors and maintains inventory levels and food cost control during assigned shift and completes weekly inventory as needed.
7.     Completes assigned administrative duties timely and accurately.  Assists in maintaining files, records and all required documentation.
8.     Reinforces the importance of placing guests’ needs first to drive-in employees on a consistent basis.
9.     Immediately responds to guest requests in a respectful manner.  Reports guest complaints to immediate supervisor and assists in resolving such complaints.
