Experience Works! PLUS - Internship Opportunities for Students!

The Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board (WFWIB) is accepting applications on a rolling basis until June 2023 into our Experience Works! PLUS (EWP) internship program. This is how it works:

  • Students 18 – 24 (residing in Westmoreland or Fayette counties) apply with or without an unpaid internship already lined up
    • If they have an unpaid internship, we will coordinate with their employer to get them paid through the WFWIB
    • If they do not have an internship, we will attempt to match them with a worksite in their field of study from our cache of partnered worksites. Meaning – we can help land them a job!
  • Interns earn $13/hour
  • Interns work for 10 weeks or 320 hours, whichever comes first
  • Interns gain real-world, relevant experience to their degree while getting paid and before they graduate!

It’s no secret that employers look for college graduates who already have some work experience under their belts. The EWP internship program is a great opportunity for students to get that experience, make some money, and for businesses to be free from paying the wages of an employee. We also provide interns with one-on-one career counseling and other career readiness activities to help make the EWP experience well-rounded.

We are prioritizing acceptance of students studying High Priority Occupations like healthcare, business, marketing, manufacturing, and education – but we will evaluate anyone’s application, regardless of major, and regardless if they have an internship lined up!
