Management Internship

Township of Elizabeth, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania

The Internship: The Township of Elizabeth has a great opportunity for a committed,
team-oriented, and highly motivated MPA candidate to join the Township Manager’s
Office as a Management Intern. The assignments and responsibilities of the Management
Intern are designed to further prepare the intern for a successful career in local
government. This internship will be paid and/or for academic credit, with a minimum
commitment of 16 hours per week.

Position Summary: The selected candidate will perform a variety of professional
administrative work, research, and analysis in support of the Township Manager’s Office.
The work performed by the Management Intern will be highly visible and have a direct
impact on the community. Typical assignments/projects will involve coordinating
special projects, working with internal/external committees, legislative activities, and
other administrative and compliance responsibilities.

Background: The Township of Elizabeth is in the Mon Valley, 15 miles southeast of
Pittsburgh. Population: 14,000. 24 square miles with an operating budget of $4.5M. The
Township is primarily a bedroom community, but also has many farms and a rich, rural
history as Allegheny County’s gateway to the Laurel Highlands.
