Job Description:
Laboratory Assessors perform on-site evaluations of construction materials testing (CMT) laboratories located in all fifty states, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Guam. This is a full-time, entry-level position that offers a unique opportunity to travel. Sorry, no co-ops or internships. Assessors inspect each laboratory’s testing equipment, observe demonstrations of testing procedures, and review quality management system documentation. A closing meeting is then held to review all findings. Construction materials currently included in the scope of our programs are asphalt, aggregate, soil, metals, plastic pipe, and fire-proofing materials.
We provide rigorous training – no prior CMT experience is required. A four-year degree in science or engineering is required. However, equivalent and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of the education requirement. Other requirements include a valid state driver’s license with a sound driving record, strong oral communication and technical writing skills, willingness and ability to travel independently and extensively (at least 110 days per year, two or three continuous weeks at a time), and the ability to drive at least 400 miles per day (on occasion). Previous customer service experience is a plus.
The AMRL office is located in a brand new facility in Frederick, MD as of November 14, 2011. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Frederick.
We offer a very competitive compensation package, including generous vacation and sick leave allowance, 10 paid holidays per year, health/dental/life insurance at no cost to the employee, long-term disability insurance, Family Medical Leave (FMLA), a 403(b) tax-deferred annuity program with company matching, flexible spending account, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP). All travel expenses are paid, including all meals. Vehicles are provided for business travel.
