WJAC TV Communications Jobs

 WJAC TV in Johnstown is hiring!

The HR/recruiting contact has clarified that the anchors do require Journalism degrees or focus within the Comm major but the News Assignment Editors or Producers with a communications degree with strong writing skills are good.  They do participate in West PACs and will be at the virtual fair in March (www.WestPACS.org).

News Assignment Editor

WJAC is seeking a detail oriented, aggressive, energetic, and creative full-time News Assignment Editor! We are looking for an experienced assignment editor who know how to make contacts, generate story ideas, and react decisively to breaking news. Candidates must have strong logistical skills and the ability to move crews strategically. We need someone with strong communication skills who can coordinate coverage and problem solve unforeseen obstacles. This person must be able to perform calmly and communicate effectively under pressure. 

Meteorologist

WJAC-TV is looking for a Weekend Meteorologist/Reporter. You will present the weather forecast for the weekend news and report 3 days a week.

Sports Director

WJAC-TV has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sports Director. In this role, you will be required to oversee and produce daily content on a variety of platforms including our web pages and social networks, along with performing other duties as assigned by the news managers. We are looking for someone with a clear understanding of how to dig for a good sports story, research it, shoot it, write and edit it with an edge, using strong storytelling and TV production values to make it impactful and memorable. It is important to have strong writing skills and to have knowledge of all sports. Dynamic live television and storytelling skills are a must.

We are breaking the mold on what local sports is and you will lead the team.  As sports director you will plan and coordinate coverage of sporting events from local teams up to Penn State athletics and everything in between. 

Morning News Anchor

WJAC is seeking a dynamic News Anchor for our morning newscast! The person we are seeking to join our on-air team will bring a unique combination of journalistic and broadcasting skills. In this role, you will provide content for our local broadcast and digital platforms, as well as maintain a robust presence on WJAC social media pages.
