Paid Municipal Internships Available Soon!

The Local Government Academy is pleased to announce the 2017 Municipal Intern Program matching graduate or undergraduate students with southwestern Pennsylvania municipalities, Councils of Governments, or authorities looking for emerging leaders to complete important projects.

These paid internships will begin on May 15, and projects should be completed by August 31.

The Local Government Academy is hosting a Municipal Intern Fair on Thursday, March 30, at the University of Pittsburgh, William Pitt Union, from Noon-2:30 PM. This Fair is open to currently enrolled students from all colleges and universities. Representatives from local government placement sites will be in attendance, and students will have the opportunity to interact with these representatives to learn more about summer intern projects.

Students are strongly encouraged to attend the Municipal Intern Fair to meet representatives of the placement sites and identify internships that interest them. We highly recommend that students register for the Municipal Intern Program and the Intern Fair at http://localgovernmentacademy.org/?p=169.

This year we expect to have up to 20 paid summer internships available. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible and invited to participate in the Municipal Internship Fair. Students will earn between $9–$11 per hour.

Students should complete the online registration form even if they are unable to attend. By taking this important step all of their information will be included in our “resume bank” which will be made available to the local government placement sites prior to the Intern Fair.

Please visit the Local Government Academy website for complete information and to download the Student Guidelines.
