PACC*VISTA Leader position

PACC AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader:
Position Description:
Aligned with our mission of strengthening communities through campus-community partnerships and promoting education for informed civic engagement, Pennsylvania Campus Compact (PACC) will support 27 AmeriCorps*VISTAs in the 2015-2016 program year. Placed at institutions of higher education across the state, PACC AmeriCorps*VISTAs support high-impact, innovative and sustainable projects that meet compelling community needs and seek to eradicate poverty in both urban and rural Pennsylvanian communities. Projects will fall within one of three focus areas: Education, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Families. Working collaboratively with PACC staff, the PACC*VISTA Leader will be key to the PACC AmeriCorps*VISTA success and will create explicit tools and provide implicit support to ensure that AmeriCorps*VISTAs both create long-term capacity for communities and have a meaningful service and member experience. More tangibly, the PACC*VISTA Leader will coordinate tools for member development and project assessment, build capacity for future VISTAs by coordinating VISTA Alumni, and a support existing regional networks in exploring opportunities and capacity for collaborative VISTA projects.



Responsibilities:
  • Develop a manual (electronic and web-based) of best practices, support tools, and resources to support PACC*VISTAs in their projects; manual should highlight and build upon existing resources such as VISTA Campus
  • Develop templates for each program focus area to assist PACC*VISTAs tracking and assessment of aligned performance measures
  • Collaborate with Program Manager to support PACC*VISTAs in their projects, including: providing individuals check-in's, offering project consulting and brainstorming, assisting with assessment procedures, and developing transferrable member development experiences
  • Create and support regional networks of VISTAs through semiannual meetings and explore and encourage opportunities for collective impact
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of PACC*VISTA member development activities including conference calls, webinars, retreat(s), and workshop(s)
  • Support 15-16 PACC*VISTA recruitment and selection processes
  • Leverage a web-based platform to provide additional professional development and networking opportunities for VISTAs statewide
  • Build PACC’s social media presence and create regular newsletters to streamline PACC’s communication with VISTAs
  • Cultivate a network of alumni to be involved and engaged in PA Campus Compact and to build organizational opportunities and capacity


Qualifications:

  • Obtainment of Bachelor's degree or 3 years of relevant experience
  • Successful completion of one AmeriCorps*VISTA term
  • Possesses strong organizational skills, including planning and leading events,
  • Demonstrates motivation and
    initiative, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Understanding of civic and community engagement, AmeriCorps*VISTA program, and preferred awareness of Campus Compact Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Appreciation, experience, and understanding of working with diverse populations
  • Proven computer and technology skills (Microsoft Office, Social Media, Google Platform)
  • Proof of valid driver’s license/insurance and access to vehicle

Benefits:
  • Annual living allowance of $14,076
  • End of Service Award - Education Award of $5,730 or Cash Stipend of $3,000
  • Healthcare Allowance to AmeriCorps*VISTA members who maintain health insurance. Member must be covered by health insurance that meets Affordable Care Act requirements or will be subject to a fee.
  • Relocation support and Child Care Benefits, if eligible.
  • Professional development and support from PA Campus Compact
  • Ten personal days and ten sick days
  • Housing support of $6,000




Term:  July 24, 2015 - July 22, 2016 with mandatory orientation from July 19-23, 2016
