Describe the intern’s major responsibilities or tasks:
Provide marketing support for a variety of internal and external marketing and communications initiatives, including some or all of the following:
  • Data entry of customer warranty information (Strong attention to detail and accuracy required).
  • Distributor and Rep list management
  • Press release distribution and list management
  • Lead follow-up (letter/lit mailing), tracking and distribution of leads to sales
  • Assist in various social media projects including Twitter postings, tracking and responding to ListServe/ blog conversations pertaining to the company or related products, and updating posts to the Company’s Linked-In page.
  • Assist with modifications to design of Web site, and social media banners as needed.
    Literature fulfillment approvals and logistics; inventory reordering
  • Logo merchandise research/ ordering
  • Trade show administrative work (workorders, checklist, product/ lit coordination, shipping docs)
  • Trade Show product inventory record-keeping
  • Shipment of literature and misc. items to sales as needed
  • Download/package fonts, photos and original artwork files for sending to others (literature, sleeves, etc.)
  • Photoshopping / clipping photos
  • Photography of products and parts as needed
  • Photo request fulfillment (usually by Drop Box or .ftp)


Describe the critical skills and aptitudes required to perform these tasks:

  • Self-starter with the skills to assist marketing and communications efforts.
  • Able to work well without constant direction
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Previous marketing skills preferred
  • Experience with social media (Twitter, Linked-In) preferred
  • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe
  • InDesign and Photoshop highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus

Describe what the student should expect to learn at your company:

The student will learn the disciplines of the marketing processes of a manufacturing-based workplace, as well as the general structure of a B-to-B sales and marketing organization.  The student will learn the hierarchy of the sales channels, including direct field sales, manufacturer’s representatives and distribution network and will actively participate in the marketing communications to all or some of the channel partners.
