The Pennsylvania Historical Museum and Commission is now accepting applications from students who are interested in applying for The 2014 Keystone Summer Internship Program.
 
The deadline for submission is Friday February 14th 2014.

Thar Geothermal designs, develops and markets highly-efficient and cost-effective geothermal heat pump technology and systems.  Thar’s innovative and disruptive technology dramatically reduces operating costs and is substantially more energy-efficient than conventional geothermal systems and conventional heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The environmental footprint of Thar’s technology is also significantly reduced due to the complete elimination of conventional refrigerants that are toxic and produce considerable greenhouse gas emissions.
 
Mechanical Engineer
 
Are you interested and do you have the ability to apply engineering fundamentals in non-standard situations under shifting constraints?  Are you interested in working for a small dynamic company on the leading edge of energy technology?
 
Mechanical engineering position designing and analyzing heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, valves, piping, and support structures.  Work with varying degrees of supervision, assume multiple levels of responsibility, and interact with staff across all levels.  Generate engineering reports, and presentations, participate in ongoing design reviews.  This position entails all facets of mechanical engineering; heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, stress analysis, mechanics, materials, and controls.  Combine basic engineering calculations with mechanical engineering software tools and produce preliminary and final designs.  This position emphasizes mathematical and associated critical thinking skills; be prepared to construct and solve systems of linear equations, apply, generate, and solve differential equations without using canned software.  The successful candidate will acquire experience using FEA and CFD software.  Future projects include developing a laser/robotic based manufacturing system.
 
Requirements:
Bachelors or masters degree mechanical engineering
High GPA
1 - 2 years’ experience
Internships and graduate school considered
3D modeling experience
Solid-Works, Pro-Engineer, or equivalent
Convert 3D models to 2D drawings
‘Hands-On’ experience with mechanical components and systems
Repair; car, home, farm, computer
Construction, machine shop, factory, model building
Preferred candidate can take-apart and re-assemble
Applied numerical methods and programming experience
C++, MATHCAD, MATLAB, or Visual Basic
Draw free body diagrams
Produce engineering sketches
