The PA Mountain Service Corps PA Mountain Service Corps has several Summer positions that could be a great fit for your students-- and we will continue to add more after the 1st of the year. So far in the New Kensington area we have the following summer positions. Students can reach out directly to these host sites listed if they feel comfortable doing that.
Allegheny County- The Watersmith Guild
Environmental Stewardship position focused on indoor and outdoor environmental education and watershed conservation outreach for underserved communities in Western Pennsylvania. Experience in environmental education or related field required. Experience working with youth preferred. Great candidates will have a willingness to travel and excitement about working in dynamic outdoor environments. One 450-hour position and One 300-hour position available. Fayette County- Mountain Watershed Association
Environmental stewardship position providing services to enhance the regions water quality, ecological health to both aquatic and terrestrial organisms, improve wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities and the overall quality of life to these communities. Two 300 hour position available May 2024-August 2024 positions. Course work or degree in environmental science or related studies preferred. Armstrong County- Armstrong Conservation District
Environmental Stewardship position addressing non-point source pollution as well as providing education and outreach to promote stewardship of Armstrong's natural resources. Bachelor's in natural resource field required. Willingness to serve outdoors in all conditions for inspections, surveying, planting, water sampling, etc. PA Driver's license and reliable transportation required. One 900-hour position available- Service term is January 2024-August 2024. Also, two 300-hour summer- May-August 2024 positions are available.
