Paid internships with PSNK Nextovation project

 Exciting Opportunity:
Penn State New Kensington currently has openings for five student interns to work with the campus Advisory Board, specifically on its Nextovation support team.

Overview:
The Penn State New Kensington Chancellor and Advisory Board seeks up to five motivated students to support the campus’ exciting “Nextovation” project in New Kensington..  This project designed to be a model for taking Rust Belt communities into the digital belt and creating opportunities for thousands to gain the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the 21st Century.  Reporting directly to Committee Chairs, these individuals will assist with research, coordination, and special projects as assigned by the Subcommittees.  They will assist in the coordination and planning of the periodic Advisory Board meetings, serve to coordinate subcommittee efforts, handle group communications, and serve as liaisons between their committees and the campus.

            Corridor of Innovation
            Corner Launchbox & Co-Working
            Digital Innovation Lab
            Workforce Development & Outreach
            Education

Responsibilities: 
-Participate in training
-Serve as the primary research assistant to the sub-committee board chairs on topics such as best practices, competition, opportunities, threats, feasibility, and project implementation.
-At the Subcommittee chair’s direction, handle subcommittee communication
-Work as assigned on research projects, sometimes in collaboration with students from other subcommittees.
-Meet with other students and chairs to ensure collaboration across committees
-Participate in subcommittee meetings and full Advisory Board Meetings.  Develop and give presentations as assigned
-Develop and implement programming to inform and attach campus constituents to Nextovation.

Relevant Tasks:

Subcommittee Strategic Planning Support strategic planning research as assigned by the chairs

 Board Meetings
-Fully understand and be able to report on subcommittee initiatives and their status to fellow students and the board members.
-Assist with scheduling subcommittee meetings, while communicating meeting times, dates, and agendas to board members
-Develop a board/guest/speaker schedule and manage logistics where appropriate
-Participate in bi-weekly updates of all subcommittees. 
-Provide other staff services as needed. 

Relationship Building
-Enhance relationships between the subcommittee activities and the campus by working with student representatives, such as the President of the Student Government Association, faculty, and staff
-With fellow student workers, develop and implement a plan to integrate students into Nextovation and to attend Nextovation functions
-Responsible for subcommittee  content for website and developing social media  presence.   Establish it as a viable and up to date method of communication and information for the board, campus, and public


Salary 
-$9.50/hr. - Hours are flexible except for board meetings and sub­committee dates and times
-Candidate must be at least a 2nd year student or a candidate that possess motivation and leadership skills.

Staff Safety:
This position can be done remotely. If you need to be on campus or a meeting.  The following must be followed.
-Masks must always be worn by staff while working on site.
-Wash your hands frequently.
