LIVE-IN Program: training for careers in police, fire and EMS

Monroeville Fire Department has a unique program for High School graduates with Fire and EMS training, which have intentions to attend a local college or trade school. We refer to it as the “LIVE-IN” program. This program offers them FREE rooming and sleeping quarters, areas to store personal belongings, further their FIRE and EMS training, for FREE, and to expand their experience and knowledge. In exchange, they live-in the firehouse full time, run FIRE and EMS calls, for all of the above FREE amenities. The experience from the LIVE-IN program makes adolescents into adults, through a disciplined and structured setting.

The LIVE-IN program has been in operation for over 30 years, with many members that have moved onto career fire, police, and EMS jobs elsewhere, after completing college or trade schools. While living here many of the members find part time jobs with local ems agencies, or other industries, to gain additional experience.
