Job Description for Pastoral Music Assistant  

Requirements:   Candidate needs to be a practicing Roman Catholic. Clearances required.

Skills required: Applicant must be a competent organist, able to play a Roman Catholic Mass.    
 He/she must be able to direct youth and adult choral ensembles

Duties:  Direct and/or accompany Children’s, Youth and/or Adult Choirs as needed, September through Corpus Christi.  He/she will direct and/or accompany  at two weekend Masses each month and at Masses during the Christmas Season and Easter Triduum, and perform other duties as required.   He/she will direct and/or accompany the Adult Choir twice monthly on Wednesday evening rehearsals and  twice monthly at weekend Masses, September through Corpus Christi, and during the Christmas Season and Easter Triduum.   

Approximate Hours:

20 weekends per year,   September through Corpus Christi,  9:30 am – 12:30pm  Sundays  =  60 hours

Two Wednesday evenings per month, September through Corpus Christi, (approximately 20 rehearsals)  6:30pm – 9 pm  = 50 hours

Additional Masses during Christmas Eve (9 hours) and Easter Triduum  (12 hours)


Job Description for Pastoral Music Assistant (Instrumental)

Requirements:   Candidate needs to be a practicing Roman Catholic. Clearances required.

Skills required: He/she will be a competent instrumentalist and instrumental teacher for elementary and secondary youth instrumentalists.  He/she will be responsible for  developing  and maintaining  a youth instrumental program which includes hand chimes. This will include selecting repertoire in conjunction with the Director of Music and Liturgy.   Applicant will be responsible for forming appropriate relationships with youth and their parents and for encouraging their participation in the liturgy.  

Duties:  Conduct youth instrumentalist rehearsals, every Sunday morning,  September through Corpus Christit.  He/she will play/direct at two weekend Masses each month and at Masses during the Christmas Season and Easter Triduum.  

Hours:   41 weekends –approximate hours:  9:30 am – 11am  Sundays = 62 hours
 Approximately 2 Saturday evening Masses per month, September through Corpus Christi, approximately 20 Masses,  4pm – 6:30 pm  =  50 hours

Additional Masses during Christmas Eve (9 hours) and Easter Triduum  (12 hours)

The Smeal Business Club, Pittsburgh Chapter and the Penn State Alumni Career Services Team are hosting a Nittany Networking and Resumania Event in Pittsburgh on June 28th.  This would be a great event for seniors or recent graduates at New Kensington – students and grads from all majors are welcome!  It should be a great networking opportunity and chance to meet local Penn Staters.  They just need to register on the link below if they will be attending so we can get an accurate count.
