Westmoreland County Drug & Alcohol Task Force/County-Level Internships - Students Wanted

The Westmoreland County Director of Human Services has an opportunity that would be perfect for students interested to serve on the county's Drug and Alcohol Task Force.  The county would love to see some student involvement, and I think this would also be a good way to get our campus out there as well!

The task force is broken up into four sub-committees which include: legislative, treatment, criminal justice, and health care.  Students interested would be able to express which sub-committee they would want to serve.  The overall task force meets about once every 10 weeks, and the sub-committees meet as needed/as scheduled.  Interested students who would like to serve on this community-based committee are asked to contact Dirk Matson, Director of Human Services at dmatson@co.westmoreland.pa.us724-830-3663.

Also, Dirk expressed interest in needing and wanting interns throughout various county human service departments such as: Human Services, Children & Youth Services, Behavioral Health, Juvenile Detention, and the Area Agency on Aging.  Please keep Dirk's contact information on hand and available for students needing/wanting internships.  These would be great opportunities for students here at PSNK.

Internship with the FBI for 2014-2015

Internships with the FBI
for 2014-2015

  • Every October, the FBI takes applications for their Volunteer Internship Program.  These are unpaid internships that last 10 weeks, between June and August.

  • Interns must volunteer 40 hours per week during that time.

  • And, they may allow the interns to extend their internships following the 10 week period.

  • This past year, the FBI also offered paid Cyber Internships.

  • Students should start looking at www.fbijobs.gov in late September for the internship programs.  Registration for the VIP program usually takes place in early October during a 7-10 day period. The reason for early application is because it takes that long for the security background check.
