Job Title:  Plant Industry Inspection Technician
                                              
Employment Opportunity:  The PA Department of Agriculture currently has one vacancy in Martinsburg, PA, which is in Blair County. 

Nature of Work:  This is technical work in agricultural and agronomic inspection enforcement programs.  An employee in this job performs basic inspections of agricultural and agronomic products including nursery stock, greenhouse crops, farm crops, plant products, animal feed, fertilizer, lime, pesticides, seeds, and soil and plant amendments in an assigned area of the state.  Work involves determining compliance with state regulations related to labeling, licensing, plant pest management, product registration, and standards of purity, quality and sanitation; collecting commodity samples in accordance with existing protocols; responding to consumer complaints concerning agricultural or agronomic products; and recording data and preparing reports of findings.

In order to be considered, applicants must be a PA resident, and meet the following requirements:

Minimum Requirements:  A bachelor’s degree in the agricultural or biological sciences, which includes 3 credits in chemistry, 3 credits in plant science, and 3 credits in animal science; or an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 3 college credits in chemistry, 3 credits in plant science, and 3 credits in animal science.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:  Possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

Salary Range:  $35,364 - $53,281 annually, and excellent benefits.
