Position Description
This intern position provides excellent hands-on real-life experience for the incumbent, and the principle objective of this role is for the incumbent to gain real-world business experience by participating in the development and implementation/deployment of new systems, new information technologies and information solutions; supporting and enhancing existing systems and information technologies; and learning the location’s standards, procedures and technologies. The incumbent will participate as an internal consultant to Alcoa’s businesses and customer/user groups.

This IT Security project will challenge the intern to learn two technologies used for database and server exception scanning in the Windows and Oracle/Unix environments respectively. Each tool needs to be assessed for usage in the other environment and if applicable, a recommendation between the two products for possible consolidated usage across both environments.

An additional focus for the internship will be:
•In collaboration with senior security team members, deploy a new file auditing solution in conjunction with global site application server refreshes. This will include a back end process to manage and report access data being collected in sensitive data partition.

Lean Implementation Support Internship

For over 25 years, United Plate Glass Company, Inc. has served the commercial and residential glass industry as a major supplier of architectural glass products. With fabrication facilities based in Western Pennsylvania and North Carolina, our diversified and comprehensive product line enables UPG to fulfill a wide variety of glass needs.

Silgan IPEC Engineering Internship

Silgan IPEC supplies hundreds of customers from prominent fluid milk processors and water and juice bottlers to smaller family-owned operations. Our primary business is divided into four main industry segments: dairy, water, juice and custom-design. We have built our Company from our Technical Service Team to our Customer Service Department to have specialized knowledge in these segments in order to address most effectively our customer demands.
Internship project description: The intern will work within our QA department to assist in reducing process non-conformances, customer complaints and product returns through system execution, as well as direct involvement in continuous improvement project initiatives.  This will include performing routine inspections, tests and evaluations of finished product and raw materials.  Training will be provided to allow the intern to learn about our business and culture, as well as understand our quality management system and how the quality functions adds value to the organization.          

Proposed internship project goals, objectives, outcomes:      Assigned work and projects will be completed under the direction of the Plant QA Manager through interaction with plant employees and plant management.  The primary objectives are associated with the reduction of process non-conformances, customer complaints and product returns, however, this position will also provide support in preparing the plant for SQF (Safe Quality Food) code compliance through involvement on the HACCP/Food Safety team.

Type of student sought:  Academic focus pertinent to manufacturing operations, engineering, business or related field of study.  Willingness to work on the production floor in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams is essential.  Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or operations management is beneficial, but not necessary.

Venture Outdoors North (VO North) is an expansion of VO, focusing on the counties of Butler, Beaver and Lawrence (BBL). The VO North intern will support the VO North manager and trip leader specialist in the team effort to increase participation in outdoor recreational activity. By representing VO North at outreach efforts (festivals, fairs, community events) and during our activities, the intern will play a pivotal role in helping to create a sense of community and a deeper appreciation for the natural world. Working at Venture Outdoors and VO North is fast-paced, dynamic and ever evolving.
Internship summary: This internship is based from the VO North office in Zelienople. Time will be spent working in the office, remotely and in the field. This internship requires a flexible work schedule, including many weekends, with working hours varying depending on trip schedules and community outreaches. The intern will support VO North by assisting with any and all activities required to produce successful outings for VO North from both the office and in the field. SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

Community programs are seeking interns to work at various Summer Food Service Program sites for the summer of 2012.

Summer Food is a federally funded program that provides free, nutritious meals to youth 1 to 18 years old during the summer months. This critical program picks up where school breakfast and lunch programs leave off to ensure low-income children are getting enough to eat over the summer.

Interns will have the opportunity to potentially develop, manage and serve children in a particular community in Allegheny or surrounding counties throughout the duration of the program (mid-June through mid-August).  Candidates will possess a passionate commitment to help children, the ability to keep accurate records of meals served, and a mix of the following specific qualifications:

- Good communication skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Well-organized and ability to follow-through
- Ability to speak with children and adults about the program
- Ability to juggle multiple duties and assignments
- Must have current ACT 33/34 Clearances
- Proven ability to work effectively alone with little supervision
- Attend mandatory training
- Sense of humor

Duties vary by site, but may include:
- Performing meal count at time of service.
- Have fun with the kids!
- Be on time at scheduled site.
- Serving meals to children 18 and under only.
- Ensuring that meals are eaten on site and no food is taken off site for

- Counting and inspecting meals as soon as they are delivered.
- Maintaining proper meal temperatures.
- Notifying the sponsor immediately if there are any problems.
- Maintaining a clean site.
